Annual Membership Renewal

Dentists must renew their certificate of registration with the College each year to continue practising dentistry in Ontario. Dentists who do not renew will have their certificate of registration suspended for non-payment of fees.

How do I renew?

Log into the member resource centre and complete the renewal questionnaire and pay your annual fee. If you require a password or have forgotten it, click "Forgot Password" on the login page. You will be emailed a new temporary password.

What is the deadline for completing my renewal form?

The deadline is December 15. Late fees apply if payment is received after that date.

What is the cost?

The annual fee is $2,160. If you pay after December 15, you must pay an additional $100 late fee.

What if I am not renewing?
If you are not renewing your certificate of registration, submit a completed resignation form before December 15, 2017 to avoid suspension for non-payment of fees.

What happens if I do not renew?

If you do not complete the online renewal questionnaire and pay the annual fee by December 15, you will receive a Notice of Intent to Suspend Your Certificate of Registration. You will then have 30 days to complete the renewal questionnaire and pay the applicable fees.

If you do not pay the fees and complete the renewal process within those 30 days, you will be suspended for non-payment of fees. You must then meet the requirements for reinstatement to resume practising. If you are deemed ineligible for reinstatement, you are required to apply for a new certificate of registration from the College.

Applications for reinstatement will be subject to the legislative requirements in place at the time as well as standard processing time.

Practising while your certificate of registration is suspended or revoked is a serious offence. If your licence is suspended or revoked you are prohibited from practising dentistry in Ontario.

Information about conduct

Dentists must provide details of the following that occurred or arose after receiving their certificate of registration from the College.

  • A finding of guilt arising in any jurisdiction relating to any offence.*
  • If the member is registered or licensed to practise any other profession in Ontario, or any profession in any other jurisdiction, an investigation or proceeding for professional misconduct, incompetence, incapacity or a similar investigation or proceeding.
  • If the member is registered or licensed to practise any other profession in Ontario, or any profession in any other jurisdiction, a finding of professional misconduct, incompetence, incapacity or a similar finding.

*The legislation which requires dentists, as well as all other regulated health professionals, to report this information does not differentiate among "offences". The College is not interested in parking offences or other similar offences which allow you to simply pay a fine to avoid attendance at Court.

Amalgam waste disposal

The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of the Environment requires that we report compliance with the Amalgam Waste Regulation every year. You must confirm that your amalgam waste separator meets or exceeds ISO standards.

Compliance with the QA program
