If you are studying to become a dentist in Ontario, you are enrolled in one of the provinces’ two university dental programs:
- The University of Toronto’s (U of T) Faculty of Dentistry
- Western University’s Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry
The successful completion of one these accredited four-year programs permits you to apply to write the National Dental Board of Canada’s (NDEB) examination. All applicants must successfully pass this exam in order to receive NDEB certification, which is required to apply for a licence to practise dentistry in Ontario.
RCDSO has a long-standing relationship with both universities to ensure that graduates of each dental program understand their professional and regulatory responsibilities when applying for licensure in Ontario.
Every year, members of RCDSO’s registration department visit the graduating class of U of T and Western dental programs as convocation approaches. You have the opportunity to ask College staff specific questions about applying for your licence.Read more about the application process.
