New this election year
There is an additional eligibility criteria. A member wishing to stand as a candidate in an election must first demonstrate that they meet the competencies set by Council.
This is done by way of a letter from the applicant attached to the application. The determination is made by an external committee, the Eligibility Review Committee (ERC). The ERC will communicate its decision in writing to all applicants on or before Monday October 26, 2020.
Why do I have to complete a training course just to be eligible?
The Council and non-Council Candidate Eligibility Course is designed for those interested in getting involved with governance of the RCDSO. It takes about one hour to complete online and will help determine if your vision and goals align with the College's values and public protection mandate. It also explains the time commitment and expectations of Council and committee members.
All potential candidates must complete this course, unless you have already done so as part of a previous application. For candidates running in the Council election, the deadline for successful completion of the course is September 21, 2020.
