Sexual Abuse Program

The patient-dentist relationship is based on trust. Sexual abuse by a dentist violates that trust and is never acceptable. Sexual abuse is broadly described as a breach of professional boundaries between the dentist and the patient and a misuse of power in the dentist/patient relationship.

To make information about sexual abuse education more prominent, the College posts information on sexual abuse prevention, including the current Practice Advisory on Prevention of Sexual Abuse and Boundary Violations, on our website.

The College's Patient Relations Committee also reviews our practice advisory on a regular basis to ensure the information adequately addresses this important topic.
