Daniel Faulkner, HBSc, MBA
Registrar and Chief Executive Officer

Daniel Faulkner is the Registrar & CEO of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario since August 2020, bringing 30 years of health care and regulatory experience to solutions that advance patient safety and public interest. His formal training includes an Honours Bachelor of Science in Pharmacology and Toxicology from Western University, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Health Services Management from McMaster University.

Daniel served almost 25 years with one of Canada’s largest regulatory authorities, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. There he held senior leadership roles including Director of Quality Management, Deputy Registrar and Interim CEO & Registrar. Daniel’s career spans all aspects of regulatory program oversight including significant expertise in practice-based assessments, quality improvement, licensure and the impact of professional mobility, and risk-based and evidence-informed regulation. More recently, he consulted and advised with several organizations and professions across Canada building solutions for a wide variety of governance, strategy, and operational challenges.

As Registrar and CEO of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, Daniel is committed to the demonstration of regulatory excellence and the unique role of regulators in health system change.  His vision is defined by accountability, transparency, engagement and service experience.  From 2019-2021 Daniel Co-Chaired the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care’s Working Group to develop and implement Ontario’s (and Canada’s) first performance measurement framework for health professional Colleges.
