COVID-19 Update: enhanced regional precautions

The rising numbers of COVID-19 cases in Ontario are raising legitimate concerns.

As a result, the Government of Ontario has released its COVID-19 Response Framework. In some areas local public health units are imposing additional measures.

You should stay aware of conditions in your area by monitoring any new recommendations from your local public health unit or changes to the status of your region.

The RCDSO continues to strongly recommend that all dental offices in red or orange public health areas - currently, Toronto, Ottawa, York and Peel Regions (previously referred to as ‘hot zones’) - use enhanced precautions for aerosol-generating procedures.

We remind you that ALL dentists in Ontario have the option to use enhanced precautions if they wish.  See our COVID-19: Managing infection risks during in-person dental care and this supplemental guidance

The College continues to monitor the situation closely and will update you as circumstances change.
