As a result of a report, the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee decided to caution Dr. Chris Peter Cadas as follows: • When transitioning dental practice hardware and software to a new system, you must ensure that you maintain secure access to all recorded information for each patient and that the patient records and all related metadata are not compromised or changed in the process. Information about managing electronic records can be found in the College’s guideline (Electronic Records Management (March 2012)). • Fees for dental services should accurately reflect the treatment provided, including the amount of time spent providing the service. In addition, the fee should not be charged until the service is complete. • It is your professional obligation to make reasonable attempts to collect the copayment portion of dental fees not covered by a patient’s insurance.

As a result of a complaint, the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee decided to caution Dr. Chris Peter Cadas as follows: • Dentists have an ethical obligation to ensure that the fee charged accurately reflects the service provided. Specifically, temporary (IRM) restorations should not be billed as permanent restorations. • It is the Dentist’s professional obligation to make reasonable attempts to collect the co-payment portion of dental fees not covered by a patient’s insurance.
