Caution

As a result of a complaint, the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee decided to caution Dr. Natalia Rebecca Archer as follows:

• The Dentist should ensure that she applies the lessons learned in the informed consent course, and ensure that she thoroughly discusses all of the possible risks, benefits, alternatives and fees of the proposed treatment and answers all of the Patient’s questions before obtaining the Patient’s informed consent to treatment, especially where the treatment carries significant risks; and

• The Dentist should ensure that her planned follow-up care is thorough and takes place in a timely way, to ensure that any side effects or adverse outcomes are caught early and appropriately addressed during the treatment. This is especially so where the treatment has significant risks of adverse effects such as changes in the bite.
