Caution

As a result of a complaint, the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee decided to caution Dr. Rondinelli as follows:

• Dr. Rondinelli must ensure that his advertising activities adhere to the College’s Practice Advisory on Professional Advertising and Professional Misconduct Regulations. This includes a clear prohibition against running contests or giveaways, regardless of how entries are awarded or to whom. 

• It is essential to maintaining the respect of the profession in the eye of the public that Dr. Rondinelli be forthright in his communications with the public and/or patients when engaging in advertising activities. 

• Dr. Rondinelli must take care to ensure his submissions to his regulatory body are not misleading. In this case, the panel identified two distinct issues on which Dr. Rondinelli’s submissions were less than forthright. 

• When Dr. Rondinelli is unsure or unclear of the appropriateness of any of his advertising activities, he should strongly consider seeking approval from the College in respect of them to avoid the risk of running afoul of the College’s requirements on advertising.
