As a result of a report, the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee decided to caution Dr. Sadaf Ahmed as follows: • The panel was very concerned about your recordkeeping and billing practices as well as your adherence to your ethical and professional obligations as a member of the dental profession. As a member of the profession, you are responsible for ensuring that your billings are accurate, that your patient records are clear, accurate and complete, and that appropriate attempts to collect co-payments are made. • The panel cautions you to ensure that, in all areas of practice including billing and recordkeeping, you adhere to the high standards of ethical behaviour that is expected of any professional in the regulated profession in which you practice. • You should reflect on the seriousness of the Committee’s concerns. You should diligently incorporate the lessons learned from the extensive courses you will have taken in recordkeeping, billing, radiology and ethics and professionalism, as well as the mentorship with respect to your recordkeeping and billing practices. Failure to apply these lessons to your practice in the future may result in more serious action being taken, given the Committee’s serious consideration of referral of specified allegations of professional misconduct to the Discipline Committee in this instance.
