Caution

As a result of its investigation of a formal complaint, the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee decided to caution Dr. Uday Dangi as follows:

•	A recommendation to extract a tooth which is asymptomatic and close to the nerve must be supported by clinical findings and the patient must be advised of the risks of the procedure. 

•	The member is cautioned that he must comply with the College’s practice advisory on professional advertising. He must not include statements which are unclear, untrue or misleading in material related to the practice of dentistry. The member must also ensure that social media accounts accessible by the public accurately reflect that is a general dentist in Ontario and not a specialist.

•	The member is cautioned that he must maintain appropriate boundaries with his patients, including on social media, and this responsibility cannot be abdicated to patients. The member is also reminded that he should not provide clinical advice to patients during a conversation on a social media site.
