COVID-19 Update: Changes to thresholds

The Government of Ontario today revised the thresholds in its COVID-19 Response Framework. In some areas local public health units are imposing additional measures.

As a result, there have been changes to which public health areas are affected by more stringent controls. As of 12:01 a.m., Monday November 16, Hamilton, Halton, Peel, Toronto, York Region will be in the Red - Control (stringent measures) area.

Brant, Durham, Eastern Ontario, Niagara, Ottawa, Waterloo, and Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph will be placed in the Orange – Protect (intermediate measures) area.

The RCDSO continues to strongly recommend that all dental offices in red or orange public health regions use enhanced precautions for aerosol-generating procedures.

We remind you that ALL dentists in Ontario may choose to use enhanced precautions if they wish. See our COVID-19: Managing infection risks during in-person dental care and this supplemental guidance.

You should stay aware of conditions in your area by monitoring any new recommendations from your local public health unit or changes to the status of your region.

The College continues to monitor the situation closely and will update you as circumstances change.

See Ontario.ca/COVID19 for the full list of public health region classifications that will come into effect as of Monday, November 16, 2020 at 12:01 a.m.

Toronto Public Health will move into the framework on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 12:01 a.m.
