Ontario extends masking requirements in health-care settings

Provincial masking requirements, which were set to expire on April 27, 2022, are being extended in select higher-risk  settings until 12:00 a.m. on June 11, 2022. This includes health-care settings, such as dental offices. The Chief Medical Officer of Health will also maintain the CMOH Directives currently in effect until June 11, 2022.

Dentists are expected  to continue to follow the requirements outlined in the College’s COVID-19 guidance document.  The document indicates that:

  • Dentists and staff must wear an appropriate mask at all times except as needed for eating and drinking
  • Dentists must require patients and visitors to wear their own mask at all times while in the office (e.g., a procedure/surgical mask, cloth covering, or other appropriate face covering). For more information on the requirement to wear masks, including limited exceptions, see the College’s COVID-19 guidance document and COVID-19 FAQs.

We continue to monitor updates to provincial masking requirements and CMOH directives. Refer to our COVID-19 FAQs and our COVID-19 guidance document for the latest information from the College.
